A Closer Look At Tree Planting Mistakes To Avoid As A Homeowner

Blog

Strolling through the local landscape and garden center, you will no doubt come across many beautiful trees that you would like to take home and add to your property. While the right trees can add value to your home and aesthetic appeal to your property, the wrong trees can grow to become an all-out nightmare. Unfortunately, planting a tree is a lot easier than taking one down, so if you plant a tree that later becomes a nuisance, you may not have a choice but to hire a professional tree service to help you out. To avoid future issues with the wrong trees on your property, be sure you avoid these costly homeowner mistakes.

Mistake: Not researching general tree regional planting information.

Why? Before planting a tree on your property, you should already know that you are capable of providing it with the best climate, sun and shade, and encouraging growth components. If you don't pay attention to where a tree will flourish the best, you may end up with a tree on your property that is not healthy. Unfortunately, unhealthy trees are prone to breakage, uprooting, and even rot, which will definitely be a bother.

Mistake: Assuming that flowering trees will automatically be a good idea.

Why? From flowering mums to flower-coated fruit trees, it is easy to assume that these beautiful breeds are going to be impressive planted right in your backyard. What many homeowners tend to forget is that flowers attract bees, and bugs, and birds, and just about any other type of pest you can think of. You may love the tree, but the pests that could come along with the flowering tree could become overwhelming.

Mistake: Disregarding taking the appropriate measurements before you plant a tree.

Why? That small spruce tree you just bought at the home improvement store may be only a few feet tall now, but some small trees, such as the Norway Spruce, can actually grow as tall as 80 feet high and 30 feet wide. This is only one example of how a seemingly small improvement can turn into a ginormous eyesore in a few years. Before you plant any tree, make sure you take into consideration how tall and wide it will eventually be and measure accordingly.

The bottom line is this: Trees should be viewed as more than just an attractive landscape feature. Trees that are planted in the wrong place are easily a big challenge as a homeowner. Improving The Look Of Our Trees

After we moved into our house, we knew that something had to be done about our trees. The branches looked off-kilter, and we could tell that someone had pruned them incorrectly at one time or another. Unfortunately, we weren't really sure how to repair the damage. A family friend talked with us about hiring a professional tree trimmer, and so we called them the next day. The difference that they made was astounding. They removed dead branches, trimmed up the shape, and let more sunlight through. My blog is all about improving the look of your trees by hiring a professional.
