3 Flowering Trees To Add To Your Landscape This Spring

Blog

Landscaping is an important part of your home. Not only does it make your house more appealing, but it also improves the home's value. Most homeowners are overwhelmed by the different shrubs, flowers, and trees that they can add to their yard. Thankfully, choosing flowering trees that bloom in the spring or summer is smart for curb appeal and value. This spring, consider adding one or more of these flowering trees to your landscape design.

Crepe Myrtle

The unique shape of the Crepe Myrtle tree will enhance your home's curb appeal with colorful blooms that last through the spring and summer. It is available in a variety of colors including pink, red, purple, and white, allowing you to find blooms suited to your personality and your home's exterior.

The spring is a great time to plant this popular tree, since temperatures are cooler. This will also give your tree enough time to root into the ground, ensuring it begins to bloom in the later part of the season and all through the summer months.

Dig a hole that is a few times the size of your tree's root base. Place the tree into the hole and fill with dirt. Surround the tree with mulch or pine straw and water thoroughly.

Bradford Pear

The Bradford Pear tree is another flowering tree that will add beauty and shade to your landscape design. Most homeowners are surprised to learn the tree does not produce actual fruit, but the spring blossoms are worth the investment.

Since the Bradford Pear can grow up to 50 feet tall, you must choose the location for this tree wisely. Avoid planting the tree near other trees, power lines, light posts, and the exterior of your home. The tree also thrives in areas that receive full sun.

Crab Apple

For soft color that lingers through the spring and summer seasons, choose the Crab Apple tree. The small pink buds open to larger white flowers that are attractive and fragrant.

The Crab Apple is a smaller tree, so it is best used as an accent for smaller yards and flower beds. In addition, this tree is suited for planting in a pot. Consider placing a potted Crab Apple on your porch, deck, or patio for instant color and personality.

From enhancing curb appeal and adding value to creating shade for energy conservation, it is easy to see the benefits of these flowering trees. Consider adding one or more of these flowering trees into your landscape design this spring. For more information and advice, contact a tree service like Show Me Tree Service.

Improving The Look Of Our Trees

After we moved into our house, we knew that something had to be done about our trees. The branches looked off-kilter, and we could tell that someone had pruned them incorrectly at one time or another. Unfortunately, we weren't really sure how to repair the damage. A family friend talked with us about hiring a professional tree trimmer, and so we called them the next day. The difference that they made was astounding. They removed dead branches, trimmed up the shape, and let more sunlight through. My blog is all about improving the look of your trees by hiring a professional.
