Come Up With A Game Plan When Pruning Your Trees

Blog

Pruning your tree is an important part of keeping it healthy. However, if your tree isn't pruned in the right way, you might actually do more harm than good to your tree. It's important to have a plan in mind before you begin pruning.

Don't Hurt Your Tree

It's important to know which pruning practices can actually hurt your tree. For example, if you prune too close to the collar, your tree will struggle to heal properly. Also, if you prune your tree while it's stressed out, you'll be more likely to injure it.

Come Up with a Plan

Take into consideration your goal when pruning your tree. For example, you'll want to ask whether your goal is to protect your tree from diseases and pests, remove branches that have become damaged, or whether you are pruning your tree to make it more beautiful. If the goal is aesthetics, you'll want to strike a balance between the beautification of your tree and the health of the tree.

Understand the Tree You are Pruning

The tree species will play a major role in the methods you'll use when pruning your tree. Some trees only need light pruning. The best time to prune a tree can also be affected by the species. While it's a great idea to prune deciduous trees during the early winter months, this can be a bad idea when your pruning evergreen trees. Therefore, it's a good idea to consult with professionals before pruning your tree.

For example, with some plants, pruning them at the right time can cause sprouts to form and can cause the plant to become rejuvenated. In this case, pruning your tree can actually prolong the life of your plant.

Pruning is Necessary with Some Plants

Some species of plants, such as topiaries, can actually be pruned a great deal without damaging the plant. In fact, you will want to prune these types of plants very frequently to produce the desired effect. But with certain tree species, you won't need to prune them hardly at all.

Many companies offer a range of tree services and can come and prune your trees. You won't have to worry about turning your trees yourself and you will also be able to ask for advice on how to better care for your trees. Tree care services no only do the grunt work necessary to care for your tree but also can provide a variety of other services.

Improving The Look Of Our Trees

After we moved into our house, we knew that something had to be done about our trees. The branches looked off-kilter, and we could tell that someone had pruned them incorrectly at one time or another. Unfortunately, we weren't really sure how to repair the damage. A family friend talked with us about hiring a professional tree trimmer, and so we called them the next day. The difference that they made was astounding. They removed dead branches, trimmed up the shape, and let more sunlight through. My blog is all about improving the look of your trees by hiring a professional.
